FAQ

What is an R-Value?

The R-value on a garage door measures the doors ability to hold in heat, or keep heat out. The higher the R-value the better the door will be at insulating your space. Non-insulated doors would have no R-value. When your garage is attached to your home, a high R-Value can reduce your energy costs by up to 7%.

What is the difference between an insulated and non-insulated door?

Insulated

An insulated door will help control the temperature of your garage. It will stop heat from getting out in the winter, as well as stop heat from getting in during the summer. This will reduce the cost of maintaining appropriate temperatures in your home.

Insulated doors will reduce noise from the outside of your house.

Doors with insulation are stronger than non-insulted doors because they are fortified with a filler.

Insulted doors are more expensive than non-insulted doors.

Non-insulated

If you do not require your garage to be temperature controlled then non-insulated doors would be a good option. They are less-expensive, lighter, and just as secure as insulated doors.

Can I Repair my Garage Door on my Own?

In short, the answer is No.

While it is reasonable for a home owner to perform regular preventative maintenance on their garage doors, repairs and service should always be provided by a professional. The many different components that your garage door is made up of have the potential to harm both the door itself as well as unqualified individuals.

Garage doors are a large mechanical device with multiple moving parts with the potential to cause bodily harm and even death.
